When you are involved in any business that requires manufacturing, heavy material, and dangerous equipment, as much as it should be, your daily thought isn’t necessarily “Okay, let’s everyone go home safe and sound today”.
Today as part of an entry procedure to North American Stainless, in Ghent, Kentucky our crew had to set through site specific safety training. These safety training sessions serve a good reminder of how important safety is, not just to our company but to our children, our spouses, our co-workers, everyone that depends our us everyday to come home the way we left, SAFE. Safe work starts with the individual awareness of what you are doing at work or at home.
We all face multiple uncertainties in life and unavoidable accidents will happen. It is our responsibility to limit the exposure to accidents that can be avoided by using safe work practices at all times, not just when it is convenient. As I can often times be an impatient crew leader, this was a good refresher message for me because now, it’s the end of the day and I can go home, the way I left this morning! -CS
